Project Overview

Big Sky Landscapes had the privilege of enhancing the iconic Chattanooga Choo Choo through a comprehensive native landscape installation and ongoing maintenance program. The goal was to preserve the historic charm of the property while elevating its natural beauty with sustainable, climate appropriate plantings.

Our installation included a diverse range of native shrubs such as Switchgrass, Yaupon Hollies, Rhododendron, Itea, and Beautyberry, along with vibrant native perennials including Goldenrod, Black Eyed Susan, Coneflowers, Asters, and Phlox. A native Serviceberry tree was also planted to provide multi season interest and strengthen the landscape’s structure.

Beyond plant selection, the project involved full site preparation and infrastructure improvements, including mulch application, sod installation, irrigation setup, topsoil enhancement, drainage solutions, planter bed creation, and selective plant and tree removal to prepare the site for transformation. Each element was carefully executed to ensure both visual impact and long term functionality.



Through thoughtful design and consistent maintenance, we have helped preserve and revitalize the Chattanooga Choo Choo’s gardens in a way that honors its history while creating a welcoming, sustainable environment for visitors.
